Why Google Doesn’t Publish All Reviews and How to Increase Your Chances of Being Seen
At Ultimate Web Designs, we’re proud of the 70+ reviews from our wonderful clients. However, we’ve noticed that only 51 of those reviews are currently visible on our Google profile. This happens because Google’s algorithms and automated systems filter reviews to maintain the integrity of the platform. As a business, it’s important to understand how you can help your clients’ reviews become visible on Google.
Here’s what you can do to ensure more of your reviews are published:
1. Encourage Specific and Authentic Feedback
Google’s algorithms are designed to filter out spammy or promotional content. To increase the chances of your review being published:
- Encourage clients to write genuine, detailed feedback about their experience.
- Ask them to focus on specific aspects of your service, such as customer support, timeliness, or the quality of work.
2. Ask Clients to Use Their Regular Google Accounts
Reviews from new or suspicious accounts are often flagged by Google. Encourage your customers to:
- Use accounts they regularly engage with on Google or other Google services like Gmail or YouTube.
- Complete their Google profiles if they haven’t already, which helps improve the authenticity of their reviews.
3. Avoid Keyword Stuffing or Overly Promotional Language
While it’s tempting to have your clients leave reviews that are filled with keywords like “best web design” or “top SEO company,” Google might hide reviews that look too promotional or unnatural. Ask clients to:
- Keep reviews natural and avoid overusing business-related keywords.
- Focus on the experience, not just the results, to make it more organic and valuable for other potential clients.
4. Spread Out Review Submissions
Google is more likely to display reviews when they’re spread out over time. If a lot of reviews come in all at once, Google might filter them out. Suggest clients leave reviews:
- Over a few days or weeks rather than all at once.
- Gradually so that Google sees it as a natural accumulation of feedback.
5. Remind Clients to Follow Google’s Content Guidelines
Google has strict guidelines for content that violates its policies. Ensure your customers are aware that reviews containing inappropriate language, offensive comments, or any form of hate speech will not be published. Remind them to:
- Follow Google’s review policies, avoiding language that could be flagged.
What To Do if a Review Doesn’t Show Up?
If a review isn’t showing up right away, it could be because it’s in the review queue for verification. Let your clients know that:
- Google may take a few days to verify reviews, so they may not appear immediately.
- If their review still doesn’t show up after a few days, they can edit or resubmit it with slight changes in wording.
